St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Groton CT
Welcome >> Our Outreach

St. Andrew is a tithing church, giving 10% of our income to ministry beyond our walls. A percentage of this tithe goes to support the work of the Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly. The rest goes to support programs and organizations in our community that are trying to ease the burden of many who need a helping hand. Programs that we support individually or as a group include:

Programs serving homeless and the hungry:
  • Red Cross Blood Drives
  • Habitat for Humanity (we are a covenant church)
  • Alternative Christmas Market
  • United Action of Connecticut striving to provide to tax relief for the poor , affordable housing and oppose discrimination
  • Youth Mission Work Trip
  • Never Spend Another Nickel*

*Never spend another nickel is a mission campaign based on the fact that the nickel is the least used coin. To constantly remind us of the importance of the "least of these" everyone is asked to never spend another nickel. Instead we bring our nickels received in to the Never Spend Another Nickel jar. Money collected is used to support Nabaji Afusa in Uganda. Since January 2003 we have collected over $2,000 or about 400 nickels a week and have emptied the jar 6 times. Not only is it supporting Nabaji but it is a constant reminder to both young and old of our mission responsibility.

Won't you join us in making a difference?
