About the United States Coast Guard Academy CADET CHORALE:
Music is well represented at the United States Coast Guard Academy in an extremely active program. The Corps of Cadets is comprised of exceptional young men and women training for careers as officers in the United States Coast Guard. Nearly one quarter of the student body participates in an array of choral and instrumental groups.
The Coast Guard Cadet Chorale is a select group of cadets, determined to be the top singers from the Academy’s 50 member official Glee Club. They perform a variety of music, featuring close harmony renditions of patriotic selections, sea chanteys, and show/swing tunes.
The group travels extensively throughout the United States to perform for both public and official functions. Disneyworld in Florida, the Rose Bowl Parade in California, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and the 2005 Super Bowl, to name a few, have all hosted the group in the past.
The group’s director and musical arranger is Dr. Robert G. Newton, Director of Vocal Music at the United States Coast Guard Academy.
