Welcome Rev. Joan Priest to SAPC!

Rev. Joan will be the Pastor of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church beginning 1 January 2021. 


She will be our Bridge-Pastor while the church seeks our next full-time pastor. Her office hours and contact information will be provided next week. She is an experienced Pastor with many years of service in a number of churches in this area. Joan’s Biography is provided: 

                                                                     The Rev. Joan Withers Priest

Born in Illinois, Joan spent most of her childhood and youth in Ohio.  She graduated from the College of Wooster in Ohio, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies.  She received her Masters of Divinity Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling.  She completed Year Two Interim Training at Princeton Seminary in 2018.  Ordained for over 30 years in the PC(USA), she has served Churches in Lawrenceville, New Jersey; Durham, North Carolina; Westerly, Rhode Island; and New Canaan, Wilton, Greenwich, West Hartford, Old Lyme, and Groton, Connecticut as Associate Pastor, Stated Supply, Parish Associate, Interim Associate Pastor, and Interim Pastor, Head of Staff.  In July 2020 she completed a 2 ½ year Interim position at the Groton Congregational Church.  She then served as Pulpit Supply, on-line only, for three months at the Turn of River Presbyterian Church in Stamford, CT. Joan serves with dual standing in the UCC Church and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) which ordained her, and remains active in the Presbyterian Church serving in the Presbytery of Southern New England.  She is currently co-chair of the Preparation for Ministry Committee.   She is also a member of PEO, a Philanthropic Educational Organization which raises money for women’s education.  She lives in Lyme, CT with her husband Jeffrey, who is a Financial Investor.  Together they have two grown children, Jacob who lives East Lyme, CT and Lee who lives in Brooklyn, NY, with their wife Maria.
